Scifest In School
The Science Investigation Modules presented their projects to two outside judges on Wednesday last in the New library. Many months of research & experiments culminated in presentations of their projects for the judges both sent by Scifest: Mr Tim Regan and Ms Bethany O Connell from the sponsors Specsavers.
We had 6 Projects :
'The effect of Creatine on liver' by Finn Cowhig & Conor Clarke
'The effects of water salinity on boat speed' by Rory Buckley & Adam Lahique
'The Invisible' by Ethan Giltinan, Panos Karousos & Emmet Ahern
'The stimulant effect of blue light and melatonin separately and synergistically on Daphnia pulex' by Isaac Wheeloch, Reem Gafurov & Eolann O Regan Lynch
'Effect of cigarette vaping on the lungs' by Darragh Borland, Jason Kieran & Mattie O Flynn
'Atmospheric/Pressure' by Max Barrett, Adam O Callaghan & Daud Idrees.
There were 3 winners on the day: the prize for innovation went to Finn & Conor. The runner up prize went to Rory & Adam.and the winning prize on the day went to Ethan, Panos & Emmett.
All groups will now continue & improve their projects for the Scifest in CIT happening April 3rd 2020, we will need a strong performance from our students to hope to repeat last years success when Caomhan Budhlaeir & Illann wall won the competition in CIT.
